Metals I : Introduction to Metalsmithing

Students learn equipment, safety, tools and metal working techniques and skills, studio equipment, safety, tools, metals/wire, gauges, properties, design, patterns, sawing, filing, sanding, drilling, and ear wires, bales and embellishments, texturing, rolling mill, hammers, drilling, dapping, ring mandrel, torches, annealing, flux, solder, soldering, pickle pot, finishing and polishing. Students leave the class with 2 – 3 pieces of jewelry.

Students should bring the following: Ultra Fine Sharpie, Pack of mixed grit wet/dry sandpaper, scissors, paper, glue stick, any stones or beads they want to use, safety glasses (Hand tools available to share or bring your own)
